Human-Interact LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Cool Uncle mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App.

Your privacy is important to us. Cool Uncle is designed with privacy as a core principle. We collect minimal data necessary to provide and improve our service, and we never share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

By using Cool Uncle, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our App.

Information We Collect

1. Information You Provide Directly

OpenAI API Key

  • You provide your own OpenAI API key to use the App’s AI features
  • This key is stored securely in your device’s iOS Keychain
  • We never transmit, store, or have access to your API key on our servers
  • Your API key remains on your device only

MiSTer FPGA IP Address

  • You provide the local network IP address of your MiSTer FPGA device
  • This address is stored locally on your device only
  • We do not collect or store your MiSTer IP address on our servers

Bug Reports (Optional)

  • When you voluntarily submit a bug report through the “Report Issue” feature, you may provide:
    • Speech recognition transcripts (editable before submission)
    • AI responses from your conversations
    • Description of expected behavior
    • Your game preferences and conversation context
  • Voice recordings are NEVER collected – only text transcripts
  • Bug reports are stored indefinitely for quality improvement purposes

2. Information We Collect Automatically

Anonymous Usage Analytics

  • We collect anonymous usage data to understand how users interact with Cool Uncle and to calculate service costs
  • Data is transmitted through our Cloudflare proxy server and stored in a Cloudflare database
  • All analytics are completely anonymous – tied to a randomly generated UUID stored on your device
  • Reinstalling the app generates a new UUID, making you a new anonymous user

What we collect:

  • Anonymous user ID (randomly generated UUID)
  • API call metadata:
    • LLM communication back and forth
    • Action type (search, launch, preferences, etc.)
    • AI model used (gpt-4o, gpt-4o-mini)
    • Number of characters used (input tokens, output tokens, cached tokens but not their contents)
    • Latency metrics (response time)
    • Success/failure status
  • Timestamps of API calls
  • App version and iOS version
  • Aggregated game preference statistics (likes/dislikes counts, not specific titles)

What we DO NOT collect:

  • Your name, email, phone number, or any personal identifiers
  • Your conversations or voice recordings
  • Specific game titles you launch (unless you submit a bug report)
  • Your MiSTer IP address or network information
  • Your location data
  • Your OpenAI API key

Crash Reports (Apple)

  • If you opt in to share analytics with app developers in iOS Settings, Apple automatically collects crash reports
  • These reports are handled by Apple according to Apple’s Privacy Policy
  • We receive anonymized crash logs through App Store Connect to fix bugs

3. Voice and Speech Data

Local Processing Only

  • Your voice is processed on-device by Apple’s Speech Recognition framework
  • Voice recordings never leave your device
  • Only text transcripts are sent to OpenAI for processing
  • We do not store, transmit, or collect your voice recordings

How We Use Your Information

Usage Analytics

We use anonymous analytics data to:

  • Understand usage patterns (light, medium, heavy user cohorts)
  • Calculate per-user AI costs for future pricing decisions
  • Identify and fix bugs and performance issues
  • Improve AI prompt engineering and response quality
  • Optimize caching strategies to reduce costs
  • Generate aggregate statistics for service improvement

Bug Reports

We use voluntarily submitted bug reports to:

  • Diagnose and fix issues with AI responses
  • Improve speech recognition accuracy
  • Enhance game recommendation quality
  • Track and resolve technical problems

Service Operation

We use your OpenAI API key (stored locally on your device) to:

  • Process your voice commands through OpenAI’s API
  • Generate game recommendations and responses
  • Provide the core functionality of Cool Uncle

Data Retention

Usage Analytics

  • Detailed event data: Retained for 90 days, then automatically deleted
  • Aggregated summaries: Retained for 3 years for long-term trend analysis
  • Aggregated data cannot be traced back to individual users

Bug Reports

  • Stored indefinitely as part of our bug tracking system
  • Used for ongoing quality improvement

Local Data (On Your Device)

  • Your OpenAI API key: Stored in iOS Keychain until you delete it or uninstall the app
  • Your MiSTer IP address: Stored in app settings until you change it or uninstall the app
  • Your anonymous user ID: Generated at first launch and persists until you reinstall the app

Data Deletion

  • To delete your anonymous analytics data, simply reinstall the app to generate a new UUID
  • After 90 days, detailed analytics associated with your old UUID are automatically deleted
  • You can delete your OpenAI API key and MiSTer IP at any time through Settings

Data Sharing and Third Parties

Third-Party Services We Use

OpenAI (API Processing)

  • Your text transcripts and game preferences are sent to OpenAI’s API for AI processing
  • OpenAI processes your requests according to their API Data Usage Policy
  • As of March 1, 2023, OpenAI does not use API data to train their models
  • OpenAI may cache your prompts for up to 30 days for performance optimization

Cloudflare (Proxy and Analytics)

  • All OpenAI API requests are routed through our Cloudflare Worker proxy
  • Cloudflare stores anonymous usage analytics in Cloudflare D1 database
  • Cloudflare operates under their Privacy Policy
  • No personal information is transmitted to Cloudflare

Apple (Crash Reports)

We Do NOT Share Your Data With:

  • Advertisers or marketing companies
  • Data brokers or analytics firms
  • Social media platforms
  • Any other third parties not listed above

Aggregated Statistics

  • We may publish aggregated, non-identifiable statistics (e.g., “Cool Uncle users launch 10,000 games per month”)
  • These statistics cannot be used to identify individual users

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:

On-Device Security

  • Your OpenAI API key is stored in iOS Keychain (hardware-encrypted storage)
  • Your MiSTer IP address is stored in iOS UserDefaults (local device storage)
  • Voice processing happens entirely on-device using Apple’s frameworks

Server-Side Security

  • Analytics data is transmitted over HTTPS encryption
  • Cloudflare D1 database uses encryption at rest
  • No personal identifiers are stored on our servers

Limitations

  • No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure
  • We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data
  • You are responsible for protecting your OpenAI API key

Your Privacy Rights

Data Access and Deletion

Anonymous Data: All analytics data is tied to a random UUID and cannot be traced to you personally. We do not collect personal information that would require data access requests under US privacy laws.

Reset Your Data: Reinstall the app to generate a new UUID. Analytics associated with your previous UUID will be automatically deleted after 90 days.

Opt-out: Currently, analytics collection is required for service improvement. A future update may provide opt-out functionality if legally required.

Bug Report Deletion

  • To request deletion of a bug report you submitted, contact us at support@human-interact.com
  • We will delete your report within 30 days unless it is required for active debugging

OpenAI Data Rights

  • You control your OpenAI account and API usage
  • Review OpenAI’s Privacy Policy for information about data processed by their API

Children’s Privacy

Cool Uncle is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Age Rating: This app is rated for ages 13+ in the App Store.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@human-interact.com. We will delete such information from our systems promptly.

International Users

Cool Uncle is operated from the United States and intended for users in the United States.

Note: We do not currently support users in the European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA). GDPR compliance features are not implemented at this time. If you are located in the EU/EEA, please do not use this app.

If you use Cool Uncle from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States where our servers and third-party service providers are located.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, regulatory, or operational reasons.

Notification of Changes

  • We will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy
  • Material changes will be communicated through an in-app notification
  • Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy

Future Features and Data Collection

As Cool Uncle evolves, we may introduce new features that require additional data collection. Examples may include:
