1. Download the App
Grab Cool Uncle from the App Store to bring voice control and AI-powered discovery to your MiSTer setup.
2. Connect your Mister to the internet
Make sure your MiSTer FPGA is connected to the same network as your phone, so Cool Uncle can discover your system and start taking commands.
3. Install Zaparoo Core
Install Zaparoo Client from your update_all script on your MiSTer to enable direct voice-powered game launching. It only takes a few minutes—and opens up a whole new way to play.
Why I built Cool Uncle
I grew up surrounded by the magic of timeless games that defined the 8 and 16-bit eras. But over time, I realized how hard it was for new players — including my own kids — to explore the massive libraries tucked inside the MiSTer FPGA.
Cool Uncle started as a weekend experiment to make those games accessible again. Now, my kids are discovering the same joy I had with Sonic 2, R-Type, and countless others — just by asking for them out loud. This app was built to make rediscovering retro gaming simple, fast, and fun for everyone, whether you’re a seasoned collector or playing for the very first time.
